Arrivals and Departures

As a unique safety feature our front door has a coded lock. Parents will be given a code to enter our centre. A door bell is located by the front door for all other visitors. Please ensure you scan and sign in when arriving or departing with your child. Please leave your child with a teacher in the appropriate classroom and inform teachers of any special requirements for the day.

Health

We are required by Ministry of Education to maintain up-to-date immunisation records for all children attending our centre.

Illness:

Maintaining a healthy environment is extremely important at our centre. If your child is unwell or displaying any of the following: High temperature, coloured discharge from nose, unidentified rash or spots, constant cough, diarrhoea or vomiting within last 24 hours, any infectious condition, Please keep your child at home.

Please phone and leave a message explaining why your child is absent. If your child becomes unwell at our centre we will contact your family or your emergency contacts. Please keep your details and emergency contacts up-to-date.

Medication:

If your child requires medication whilst in our care, please complete a medication administration form, available from the office or teachers.
Medication must remain in it’s original container with the doctor prescription intact stating your child’s name. Please ensure that no medication in any form is left in your child’s bag.

Accidents:

Unfortunately accidents sometimes happen. Your child will be treated appropriately and your family informed. The accident will be documented and families will be asked to sign the documentation. Our teachers hold First Aid Certificates.

Settling in

Initial seperation is not always easy for families and children. All children settle in different ways. It may take one orientation visit or several for your child to become familiar with out environment. Please discuss any concerns with our experienced teachers.

Communication

Communication is a vital part of ensuring that the care and education of your child and family are being met. Each learning room has a display board keeping parents up-to-date along with individual portfolios. An informative newsletter will be regularly issued.

Parent Participation

We value families participation & encourage your involvement. We invite you to visit our centre at anytime to share in your child’s journey with us.

Parent Concerns

Please talk to our managers about any concerns as early as possible so that these concerns can be dealt with promptly and effectively.

Absence

Please phone or leave a message on 07 5781811 if your child will not be attending for the day.

Food and Nutrition

Nutrition

We provide a nutritionally balanced main meal at lunchtime. Healthy morning and afternoon snacks include seasonal fruit and vegetables. A weekly menu will be clearly displayed. Special dietary requirements need to be discussed when enrolling your child. Filtered water is provided at all meal times and on request. In our larger outside playarea, filtered water is easily accessible from a drinking fountain.

Rest and Sleeptime

We provide sleep and rest time facilities for all children if required. We provide clean linen & blankets for each child. Please supply a comfort item if required. Our infant teachers will follow your child’s sleep routines from home to provide consistency from your home to our centre.

What to bring

Please supply in your child’s bag:

2 clearly named changes of clothing.
In summer, a named sunhat & sunblock applied before arrivial.
In winter, a named woolly hat, warm jacket and possibly gumboots.
Enough nappies and milk mixtures made up for the day.
A comfort item to settle if required.

Toys

We are happy for children to bring and use a comfort item when settling, however we do not encourage toys from home as these toys can get broken and lost amongst our centre toys. It saves a lot of distress if you keep them at home for your child to play with there.
